Membership Categories
Ordinary: Individual
Ordinary Membership is open to any natural or legal person who is a patent agent, trademark agent, ID agent or an advocate and solicitor practicing Intellectual Property law and/or Industrial Property law.
Ordinary: Corporate
Any firm, corporation or association which is registered in Malaysia and is in the opinion of the Executive Committee a fit and proper firm, corporation or association by virtue of their ownership of Intellectual Property and/or Industrial Property, or their being connected directly or indirectly in the field of Intellectual Property and/or Industrial Property.
Associate: Individual/Corporate
Any application which does not meet the eligibility requirements of the Constitution but which is in the opinion of the Executive Committee, beneficial to the Association may be admitted as an Associate Member at the discretion of the Executive Committee. Associate Members do not have voting rights.
Young IP Professional (YIPP)
Young Practitioners who is a natural person who will not be more than 36 years of age as at 31st December of the year of the membership application or renewal; and is a registered as either a a patent agent, a trademark agent, an industrial designs agent, an advocate and solicitor practicing Intellectual Property law or is a graduate (with a diploma or degree) in any field, whose job is predominantly in either patents, trademarks, designs or other Intellectual Property practice or management. Young Practitioners do not have voting rights.
Student
A student of a public or private university or college in Malaysia who has an interest in the field of Intellectual Property and/or Industrial Property may be admitted as a Student Member at the discretion of the Executive Committee. Student Members do not have voting rights.
